Jim Montgomery's double save v Leeds

10/14/2016

Comments

Former Sunderland goalkeeper Jim Montgomery's heroics in the 1973 FA Cup final are celebrated just as much as Ian Porterfield's goal.

The team saw off Leeds, the best team in the country at the time and winners the previous year. Crucial to this was Montgomery's double save in the second half, first to deny Trevor Cherry's header then Peter Lorimer's follow up.

Watch the video and listen to commentator Brian Moore's shock as Leeds fail to score.
