Activities on their itinerary were said to include drinking, bungee jumping, drinking, getting to attractive women and then a bit more drinking. Specifically Budweiser.
And a 23-year-old Hutchison had probably had a few Buds by the time he decided to pull his trousers down in the middle of a crowded bar and cover little Don with the beer's label.
Naturally someone took a photo and it ended up in the News of the World.
But the best part of the story is Liverpool manager Roy Evans' response when asked for his view on the holiday antics, something he'd never get away with saying today.
As well as promising an investigation, he declared: "Bungee jumping was crazy, but that's just kids on holiday," he said in reference to Hutchison reportedly leaping from a crane 150ft in the air four times in one day.
"But if Hutchison is flashing his dick again, that's out of order."
When Evans says "again" it's because the player had previous when it came to showing strangers his tackle.
A year earlier he made the front page of the same newspaper when it was revealed he flashed some female students.
Back to Evans' carefully considered comments, though. "Copping off with birds is allowed, of course. There's nothing wrong with that - they're single lads."
However, he'd had just about enough of Hutchison's willy waving ways and the club sold him to West Ham shortly afterwards.
