And maybe that's how Leeds' Gary Sprake viewed things when his left hook floored Arsenal's Bobby Gould in 1969.
Sprake didn't appreciate Gould's challenge for a high ball and in his autobiography, Careless Hands, claimed Gould booted his genitals in the process.
"He then turned around and called me a f***ing Welsh so-and-so and I lost it and felled him with a sharp left that I think knocked out a few teeth," he said.
Sprake avoided a red card from the Welsh referee, though, and remained on the pitch.
"I was taking my jersey off because I thought I was walking, but the referee said 'Everything will be OK, Gareth. I heard what he called you.'"
If you give it out, then be prepared to take it, Gould would later say.
